Is intuitive eating the answer?

There are as many diets as there are, well, people. I normally wouldn't write about particular diets, and I am not endorsing this one. I find "intuitive eating" a bit intriguing because you don't worry, you don't count, you don't have the pressure of a diet. A recent Associated Press story mentions the story of Steven Hawks, a Brigham Young University health science professor, who said he used the diet to lose 50 pounds and kept it off for more than five years. Here are some of the basics of intuitive eating, the so-called no-diet diet, according to Hawks:
- Eat only when you're hungry. Stop when you're full. - Never eat treats just to help yourself feel better. Eating should be triggered only by physical hunger. - Include regular exercise. - It's OK to keep unhealthy foods around the house. Their overabundance helps curb the desire to overeat.
I also find this plan fascinating is that it addresses emotional eating, which afflicts a great number of people, especially women.
