TBL2 at home diet
As part of our look at TBL2, here is the sample diet for Pete Thomas, one of the contestants. This information is courtesy of the Detroit Free Press.
In the morning, he'd do an hour of cardio, such as walking or running on the treadmill or spinning on a stationary bicycle. In the afternoon, he'd do a two-hour workout that combined resistance training with cardio. In the evening, he'd do another hour of cardio work.
His diet was 2,000 calories a day.
Breakfast
Three lean turkey breakfast sausages
Two servings of Egg Beaters
Small orange
Lunch
4 to 6 ounces of 90% lean ground beef
Cup of sugar-free gelatin
Can of diet pop
Small salad with fat-free or low-fat dressing.
Dinner
Two lean pork chops
Cup of brown or wild rice
Cup of sugar-free gelatin
Cup or more of steamed fresh green vegetables, such as string beans or spinach
Salad of a wide selection of fresh vegetables with fat-free or low-fat dressing
Snacks
If he ate less than 2,000 calories, he could make up the difference with unsalted nuts (he favored cashews and almonds), fresh fruit or sugar-free gelatin.
My analysis
Healthy, but not very fun. Very few carbs might be good if you are around 400 pounds. It would be difficult to think you could handle that long-term. And eating out becomes rather difficult. Also, you would have to think sugar-free gelatin is awesome, and I don't.
